ART AND ECONOMICS DEBATE

Achille Celmieri, in his article “Art, the Market, and the New Generation: Investment or a Global Gamble?”, published in the March 2026 issue of the magazine Contemporary Art, analyzes the event held last November on the topic “Art as an Investment: Collecting, the Market, and the New Generations,” which was broadcast by ILI TV Channel.

During the discussion, in which Vera Canevazzi also participated, several key issues emerged that currently shape the relationship between contemporary art and investment: from the role of art as a potential hedge against capital loss, to the factors influencing an artist’s success, to the impact of auctions on market dynamics and speculative trends. The discussion also covered the ways in which younger collectors are redefining their choices and the future scenarios that could shape the art market.

The debate, moderated by Angela Maria Scullica, saw the participation of Antonio Addamiano, founder of Dep Art Gallery Milano; Moor Gianluca Balocco (MOOR), artist; Vera Canevazzi, Art Consultant and Art Advisor; Gloria Gatti, lawyer specializing in art law; Milo Goj, CEO of ArtRelation and professor at the ACME Academy in Milan; Anna Gnocchi, curator and art advisor; Matteo Graniti, co-founder and director of the IPERCUBO Gallery; and Elisabetta Roncati, influencer and cultural disseminator, who offered a comprehensive overview of the transformations taking place in the contemporary art system.
