From Oct. 7 to Dec. 19, 2025, Cortesi Gallery in Milan is hosting the exhibition "BETWEEN MYTH AND MODERNITY. Italian Painting of the Early 20th Century," accompanied by a critical text by Vera Canevazzi.
The exhibition presents thirteen works by seven protagonists of the Italian twentieth century - Giacomo Balla, Massimo Campigli, Giorgio de Chirico, Marino Marini, Alberto Savinio, Gino Severini and Mario Sironi - and investigates the dialogue between avant-garde experimentation and classical memory. From the futurist dynamism of Balla and Severini to the dreamlike visions of de Chirico and Savinio, to the monumental force of Sironi, Campigli and Marini, the exhibition itinerary recounts how Italian art of the early twentieth century was able to transform the tensions of its own time into images of universal value.
