The exhibition “Ex-peau-sition,” curated by Ilaria Bignotti and Andrea Mariconti in collaboration with Martina Pirovano, features seven young artists in their second year of the two-year Contemporary Visual Arts program at the Accademia SantaGiulia in Brescia, who have interpreted the concepts of subtlety, depth, opacity, and transparency through works and installations inspired by their personal experiences.

The exhibition, which opened in the neoclassical rooms of Mo.Ca and runs through June 7, stems from a reflection on the concept of “skin” developed by philosopher Georges Didi-Hubermann and inspired by Paul Valéry’s famous quote: “The deepest thing in man is the skin.”On the morning of May 29, prior to the public opening, the Final Critics session was also held, during which the young artists presented their work to three professionals from the art world: Tecla Gatelli (collector), Riccardo Angossini (gallery owner), and Gabriele Salvaterra (curator and art critic).

The initiative offers artists a significant opportunity to receive direct feedback from critics, curators, gallery owners, and collectors, with the aim of evaluating and refining their visual language and entering the contemporary art world with confidence shortly after completing their master’s degree. Over the years, Final Critics has consistently been held at prestigious venues, featuring leading figures from the national art scene and the active collaboration of organizations, institutions, and galleries that support the talent of young artists from the Brescia-based institution.

The project was made possible thanks to the collaboration of various departments at the SantaGiulia Academy of Fine Arts in Brescia and numerous faculty members, in particular: Paolo Sacchini, Director and Coordinator of the Department of Art Communication and Education; Massimo Tantardini, Deputy Director in charge of research and artistic production and Coordinator of the Department of Visual Arts; Vera Canevazzi, Coordinator of the Schools of Painting and Sculpture; Marco La Rosa, Tutor of the Schools of Painting and Sculpture; Francesca Rosina, Coordinator of the School of Graphic Design and Communication; Andrea Amato, Tutor at the School of Graphic Design and Communication; Andrea Mariconti, Coordinator of the School of Decoration; Camilla Remondina, instructor of Multimedia Design and Art Market Economics.
